Fernando Gonzalez sent this solidarity message on behalf of the Cuban Five
To all our friends:
As the New Year approaches, the five Cubans incarcerated in U.S. prisons are sending our warmest greetings to all the people in solidarity with our cause.
Two thousand and three has been a year of challenges and victories. The year almost started with the successful pressure from the solidarity movement that made the difference in getting us out of our illegal and unjustified solitary confinement. This campaign tested the strength of the solidarity movement and illustrated just how significant the role of solidarity is in this struggle.
While the struggle to release us from solitary confinement was taking place, a campaign of lies against Cuba was being waged by our enemies and once again the solidarity movement was victorious.
We know that your work to achieve justice in our case is continuous and tireless. We are conscious that this great effort is required to obtain the victory and we appreciate every single thing that you are doing for the truth to be known and justice to be done, so that we can come back to our homeland.
Due to the impossibility to thank all of you individually, we wanted to send you our wishes for happy holidays and a happy New Year.
