| Letter from Fernando Gonzalez March 17, 2004 I am grateful to all the members of the Committee for their tremendous efforts in reaching the goal of publishing the ad in the New York Times. I know that the contributions came from many parts of the world, and to all of them I am grateful. The Committee played a fundamental organizational role, and also in the consciousness- raising and mobilization around this theme. I think the ad itself is very good. The design is very communicative as is the text that was prepared. I know that the repercussions are being felt, and there is no doubt that the ad has been a great victory, of which we all feel very satisfied. For this victory, I wish to transmit to you my congratulations. With all sincerity, I tell you that there are not enough words to express my appreciation for the solidarity, the support and the constant struggle of you all, for Cuba and for we Five. Once more, my endless gratitude to the compañeros and compañeras who are part of the Committee. With Cuba and with you all always, Venceremos! With an embrace, Fernando Letter from Antonio Guerrero March 15, 2004 March 3rd the day when the ad on our case came out in the New York Times and March 10th the day when our lawyers presented the oral arguments of our appeal have been very historic days for our solidarity; they have been days of a great victory of the reason. Truth and Justice will prevail!!!! Unidos Siempre, Tony Letter from René González March 15, 2004 Dear friends from all over the world: For the five of us to see in the New York Times the ad, paid by the efforts of all of you, gave us a profound feeling and uplifting of our emotions. Only three years ago we were fighting, in the most obscure anonymity against all the weight of the hate that had been dumped over us. Only under this arrogant and abusive system could these conditions be allowed. In a relatively short period of time you have been able to change that situation by offering all your support without even knowing us personally. You have been guided by your instinct of solidarity and your desire to look for the truth. Through this effort you have shown your confidence in the Cuban Revolution built day by day for and by a people whom in our situation we represent with honor and pride. To learn about this collective effort, that represents all of you, increases in front of our eyes the magnitude of this achievement. We can see what this has meant for you to take time off from your daily obligations, your persistence in knocking on many doors and to give up precious moments of leisure in favor of our cause. The work that you have achieved and work that you will continue to achieve will eventually accomplish the last objective when justice will prevail and we can go home to our families and our people. For all that you have done, and what you continue to do, we want to express our gratitude. Thanks in our name, in the name of our loved ones, in the name of the Cuban people and all of humanity that so much needs people like you. Thanks for showing, once again, that the infamy can only grow where there is no light. A great embrace, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo Ramón Labañino Salazar Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez Fernando González Llort René González Sehwerert |
