London, Feb. 4 - An early day motion (EDM) on Britain's relationship with Cuba presented by MP Ian Gibson, the chair of the All-Party Cuba Group of MPs had gathered 65 votes by February 4.

The Cuba Solidarity Campaign hopes the motion praising the UK government for supporting the change of mood in the European Union (EU), will gather more than 120 votes before this session of parliament ends.

The motion also calls on the government to do more in opposing US policy towards the island.

All CSC members are urged to help build the vote for this EDM by writing to their MP and asking them to sign it.

The motion also calls on the British government to strengthen and defend British business interests with Cuba and ensure that companies and individuals are not penalized in any way by US extra-territorial legislation that attempts to obstruct trade with the island.

Furthermore, it adds that the British Government should build upon existing Anglo-Cuban efforts to combat drug trafficking and trans-national criminal activities in the region as a welcome example of successful bilateral co-operation.
